UN Senior Mission Leaders course pays respect to victims of 1994 genocide against the Tutsi at Gisozi Memorial

The UN Senior Mission Leaders course participants, comprising military and civilians for the training of potential leadership in UN peacekeeping operations that are in Rwanda for a two weeks course, visited Gisozi genocide memorial center on 27 May 2012. They were accompanied by Brig Gen Innocent Kabandana, the Director of Rwanda Peace Academy, the institution that is hosting the training.

Speaking for the group, Ms Carolyn Mcaskie, one of the facilitators of the training said they visited the genocide memorial in order to understand more what happened and pay respect to victims of 1994 genocide against Tutsi. Ms Carolyn Mcaskie deplored what happened and wished such tragedy could never happen again. She thanked the government of Rwanda for efforts applied to overcome the consequences of genocide.
