Rwanda Peacekeepers stationed in Kabkabiya Sector North serving under the African Union – United Nations Hybrid Operation Darfur (UNAMID) on 29th September 2015 were decorated with medals in recognition for the professionalism and gallant service in carrying out their duties of bringing peace and stability in Darfur.

Presiding over the event, the UNAMID Force Commander, Lt Gen Paul Ignace Mella thanked the Peacekeepers for fulfilling their tasks in a professional way. “You have made your country proud by upholding the commitment of your government to the joint effort of the AU and the UN in bringing peace and stability to Darfur”, he said. “You are highly motivated uniformed personnel”. “With that good performance, you have every reason to be proud of your achievements and UNAMID is grateful and proud of you”, he added.
The Commissioner of Kabkabiya locality, Dr Adam Muhamed Adam Saleh in his remarks, thanked the good relationship they enjoyed with Rwanda peacekeepers stating that they had always got medical treatment. “We are grateful for living with you and thank you for your support, we will continue to work together”, he said.
The Commanding Officer Rwanbatt43, Lt Col Richard Katuramu also thanked the troops for showing the capacity and being good ambassadors of their country in performing well the job assigned to them in UNAMID “You have been good UNAMID and Rwandan ambassadors by showing high professionalism, robustness in providing peace in Darfur”, he said. “We pledge to double our commitment to continue discharging our duty in providing peace in Darfur”, he added.
The Commanding Officer Rwanbatt43 thanked the Commissioner of Kabkabiya locality where the Battalion is deployed for all the support rendered to them which helped them to accomplish their duties.
The ceremony was marked by military martial art and cultural dance by Rwanda Peacekeepers
Present at the decoration were the UNAMID Acting Sector North Commander, Col Happy Ruvusha, the 21st Deputy Brigade Commander, Col Abdullatif Muhamad, the CO Mongolian Level II Hospital, Lt Col Tungaamaa Gerdee, the Government of Sudan Army Reserve Force Commander, Major Abdul Badihi among others.
The colorful event was marked by military parade, military martial art and cultural dance performed by Rwanda Peacekeepers.
