MEETING OF DEFENCE CHIEFS OF THE REPUBLIC OF RWANDA AND THE DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC OF CONGO

The Defence Chiefs of the Republic of Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of Congo met in Kigali, Rwanda, from 01- 02 November 2010 in accordance with the decision of the Kinshasa 17 October 2010 meeting of Defence Ministers of both countries.
The meeting was opened by the Ministers of Defence of the Republic of Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of Congo.
The purpose of the meeting of Defence Chiefs was to exchange intelligence and information as well as discuss issues of common security interest with view to address the existing threats to peace and security of both countries.
The meeting agreed on joint concrete measures to neutralize negative forces.
The Defence chief of the democratic Republic of Congo thanked his counterpart for the warm and brotherly hospitality offered to him and his delegation during their stay in Kigali.
On his part, the Rwanda Defence chief thanked his DRC counterpart for honouring his invitation and noted that the level and size of his delegation was a true testimony of excellent bilateral relations between the two countries and the Armed Forces of both countries.
The Ministers of Defence of the Democratic Republic of Congo and the Republic of Rwanda present at this meeting have adopted the recommendations.
Lt Gen Charles KAYONGA wished his counterpart and members of his delegation a safe journey back to the DRC.
The Defence Chiefs’ meeting was conducted in a friendly, cordial, and frank atmosphere.
