14TH EAC COMMAND POST EXERCISE USHIRIKIANO IMARA 2026 KICKS OFF

 

The East African Community (EAC) Deputy Secretary General, Andrea Aguer Ariik Malueth, together with Kenya’s Vice Chief of the Defence Forces, Lt Gen John Mugaravai Omenda, and other senior officials, including Rwanda’s High Commissioner to Kenya, H.E. Ernest Rwamucyo, today, presided over  the 14th Command Post Exercise (CPX) USHIRIKIANO IMARA 2026 at the Ulinzi Sports Complex in Langata, Nairobi, Kenya.

Addressing members of the EAC Armed Forces and other stakeholders, Lt Gen John Mugaravai Omenda emphasised that the exercise will enhance the region’s capacity to respond to security challenges affecting both the region and the African continent, including terrorism, piracy, and disaster management.

The exercise scheduled to run from 6 to 28 May 2026, has brought together 342 participants from Rwanda, Kenya, Burundi, Uganda, and Tanzania, while Somalia is taking part as an observer state.
