DEPUTY DEFENCE SPOKESPERSON JOINS THE RWANDA MUSLIM COMMUNITY IN THE 32ND COMMEMORATION OF THE 1994 GENOCIDE AGAINST THE TUTSI
The Rwanda Muslim Community (RMC) today held the 32nd commemoration of the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi at the Nyanza–Kicukiro Genocide Memorial.
Representing the leadership of the Rwanda Defence Force (RDF), Deputy Defence Spokesperson Lt Col Simon Kabera addressed the gathering, highlighting how the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi was planned and carried out, and how the Rwanda Patriotic Army (RPA) brought the genocide to an end, saving lives and restoring hope to the nation.

Lt Col Kabera called on members of the community to play an active role in combating genocide denial and genocide ideology. He emphasised that preserving the truth and preventing the spread of divisive narratives is a shared responsibility that requires the commitment of every citizen, including through educating future generations.
The commemoration brought together leaders of the Rwanda Muslim Community, government officials, and other stakeholders to honour the victims, reflect on Rwanda’s journey of unity and reconciliation, and reaffirm their collective commitment to ensuring that such atrocities never happen again.
