MALIAN ARMED FORCES DELEGATION VISITS RDF HQS

Today, a delegation from the Malian Armed Forces, led by Col Cheick Mamadou Cherif TOUNKARA, visited MOD/RDF Headquarters. They were received by the Director General of International Military Cooperation, Brigadier General Patrick Karuretwa.
A delegation was briefed on the RDF transformation journey, its policies, and programs that contribute to the country’s development, program dedicated to participation in peacebuilding, peacekeeping, and humanitarian response in post-conflict reconstruction, national cohesion, and unity.
In his remarks, Col Cheick Mamadou Cherif TOUNKARA, said that the purpose of the visit was to exchange experience and expertise on how to overcome difficult political situations and rebuild the country while promoting social cohesion and unity.
He underscored the inspiration to learn from the Rwandan model; as a country that has gone through tragic times in history and later rose to become one of the emerging countries in Africa.
The Director General of International Military Cooperation thanked the Malian delegation and commended their strength and courage to defeat violent armed groups. He reiterated Rwanda’ clear choice to be a united people who work together to maintain stability and prosperity.
Before the visit to RDF/MoD, the delegation paid respect to the victims of the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi at the Kigali Genocide Memorial and plans to conduct additional visits to various governmental entities as well as reconciliation villages.
