Today, staff members of the Military Medical Insurance (MMI) paid tribute to the victims of the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi laid to rest at the Mugina Genocide Memorial in Kamonyi District during a commemoration event.
As part of the commemoration, MMI donated five cows to survivors of the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi and distributed 150 copies of the book Legacy for Youth to three schools in Mugina Sector, Kamonyi District. Speaking at the event, the Acting Director General of Military Medical Insurance, Col (Rtd) Dr. King R. Kayondo, said that commemoration serves as a reminder of Rwanda’s tragic history, during which more than one million Tutsi were killed as a result of bad leadership and genocide ideology. “Through this commemoration, Military Medical Insurance staff take time to honor and pay tribute to the victims laid to rest here. We also support genocide survivors by donating cows, which will provide milk and create opportunities for economic development and self-reliance,” he said.
