MOD AND RDF HOST STRATEGIC SECURITY BRIEFING FOR ACCREDITED DEFENCE ATTACHES AND AFFILIATES
The Ministry of Defence (MoD) and the Rwanda Defence Force (RDF) hosted a security briefing today for Defence Attachés (DAs) accredited to Rwanda, offering comprehensive updates on regional and international security dynamics as well as ongoing RDF peace support operations.
The session convened DAs and delegates representing a wide array of partner nations and international bodies, including Angola, Brazil, China, Denmark, Egypt, Germany, India, Japan, Jordan, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Senegal, Tanzania, TĂĽrkiye, Uganda, the United Kingdom, the United States, and European Union (EU).
Organized as part of the MOD’s regular diplomatic engagement, the briefing provides an essential platform for information sharing, constructive dialogue, and the exchange of perspectives on developments affecting national, regional, and global security.
Opening the session, Brigadier General Patrick Karuretwa, Director General of International Military Cooperation and Defence Spokesperson, welcomed the delegation and emphasized the value Rwanda places on open, consistent communication with the diplomatic defence community.
"Beyond providing an overview of the security situation, these engagements allow us to explain and clarify Rwanda’s perspectives on issues of mutual interest. They facilitate a better understanding between our defence institutions and the countries you represent," said Brig. Gen. Karuretwa.
The interactive forum allowed Defence Attachés to engage directly with MoD and RDF representatives, deepening their understanding of Rwanda’s operational priorities and strategic outlook on regional stability.
The MoD views the community of DAs accredited to Rwanda as vital partners in strengthening defence-to-defence relations, enhancing mutual trust, and advancing practical military cooperation between Rwanda and its international partners.
