NIGERIA’S NATIONAL INSTITUTE FOR SECURITY STUDIES DELEGATION VISITS MUTOBO DEMOBILISATION CENTRE

Today, a delegation from Nigeria’s National Institute for Security Studies (NISS), currently in Rwanda on a week-long study tour, visited the Mutobo Demobilization Centre in Musanze District.

The delegation was received by Hon. Valerie Nyirahabineza, Chairperson of the Rwanda Demobilisation and Reintegration Commission (RDRC), alongside Maj General (Rtd) Jacques Nziza, Vice Chairperson of the Commission.

During a briefing, the delegation gained detailed insights into the continued threat posed by the FDLR and affiliated groups operating in the eastern DRC, as well as Rwanda’s successful Disarmament, Demobilization and Reintegration (DDR) programme.

The visit was further enriched by testimonies from former FDLR combatants who voluntarily laid down their arms and successfully reintegrated into society.

Their experiences highlighted the transformative impact of rehabilitation, reintegration, and community resilience in fostering sustainable peace and stability.
