President Kagame concludes the annual Combined Arms Field Training Exercise
Gabiro, 11 December 2018
The President of the Republic of Rwanda and Commander-in-Chief of Rwanda Defence Force, HE Paul Kagame was the Guest of Honor at the culmination of the Combined Arms Field Training Exercise of RDF 3 Div 03/18, code-named “Exercise Hard Punch III”, that had been going on at RDF Combat Training Centre, Gabiro.
The event was marked by a final operational demonstration on how different military capabilities are integrated and synchronized, during a military operation at the level of an Infantry Division.
Thereafter, the RDF Commander-In-Chief met and held discussions with military personnel that attended the event. He was welcomed to the meeting by the Hon Minister of Defence, Maj Gen Albert Murasira and the RDF Chief of Defence Staff, Gen Patrick Nyamvumba.
He urged them to maintain RDF key values which are patriotism, heroism and professionalism. “In the world we live in today, bravery and dedication are not enough but they are the foundation. You have to seek knowledge and do your job to the best of your ability. That is what makes a qualified army,” said President Kagame.

The Commander-In-Chief thanked the exercise participants noting that what they showed is proof that they are capable of dealing with those who wish ill to the nation. “There is no room for them to succeed with the courage, determination and the skills we have within us,” He added.
Apart from RDF personnel, also present at the event were other government officials including ministers.
This is the third edition of the annual Field Training Exercise conducted at CTC Gabiro. The exercise is aimed at perfecting drills that are necessary for efficient employment, harboring, occupation of positions, movement of Division troops/equipment and cooperation of all arms in any military operational situation.
