RDF CHIEF OF CIVIL–MILITARY COOPERATION ENGAGES YOUTH OF ITORERO RY’URUNGANO AT THE NATIONAL UBUTORE DEVELOPMENT CENTER

Burera, 15 December 2025

Today, the Rwanda Defence Force (RDF) Chief of Civil–Military Cooperation (J9), Col. Désiré Migambi Mungamba, engaged with members of Itorero ry’Urungano VII, a cohort of Rwandan youth drawn from within the country, across the African continent, and beyond.

The nine-day civic education programme is being held at the National Ubutore Development Center in Nkumba, Burera District, from 12 to 20 December 2025. This programme marks the seventh phase of Itorero ry’Urungano and brings together a total of 331 participants.

During the engagement, Col. Migambi delivered a lecture titled “Rwanda’s Liberation Struggle and the Role of the RPA in Stopping the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi.” He urged the youth to make effective use of the opportunities available to them by actively contributing to national development, while upholding discipline and other values exemplified by Rwanda’s heroes during the liberation struggle.

He further emphasized Rwanda’s core values of unity, national integrity, and patriotism, noting that these values historically strengthened the nation before being undermined by colonial rule.

He encouraged the youth to love their country and to prepare themselves to become responsible, committed, and visionary leaders of Rwanda.
