RWANDA AND TANZANIA FORCES PLAYED AGAIN IN A FRIENDLY FOOTBALL MATCH
Bukoba-Tanzania, 25 April 2024
Today, the echoes of camaraderie and sportsmanship came alive once again as the Rwanda Defence Force (RDF) 5 Division and the Tanzania People's Defence Force (TPDF) 202 Brigade played in another friendly football match that took place in Bukoba district, Tanzania.
This match echoed their previous encounter on 25 November 2023, in Ngoma district, where the Tanzanian team emerged victorious after a penalty shootout.
In his pre-match address, the mayor of Bukoba district, Erasto Yohana Sima said that the aim of such matches is the spirit of friendship between the two countries as always shown by both H.E President Paul Kagame and H.E President Samia Suluhu Hassan.
As the teams stepped onto the pitch, the air buzzed with anticipation, each player eager to display their skills and represent their nation with pride. The Tanzanian side emerged the winners again by 1 goal scored at the 57th minute of the game. In attendance also was TPDF 202 Brigade, Brig Gen Gabriel Elias Kwiligwa and RDF 5 Div Commander, Col Justus MAJYAMBERE. After the match, a dinner was hosted by the Mayor of Bukoba district in honour of the Rwandan guests.
Before the start of the game, a minute of silence was observed to pay respect to the victims of the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi
