The second edition of the national sports programme is being conducted in designated boarding schools in each district, with a national centre based at Groupe Scolaire Officiel de Butare in Huye District. It seeks to provide a structured and impactful platform for talent development through advanced training, competition, and national recognition.
Held under the theme âYouth Heritage in National Protection and Liberation,â the programme focuses on nationwide talent identification, standardised district-level training, and technical capacity building for local coaches and physical education teachers.
In his speech , Colonel Migambi Mugamba reminded the athletes of Rwandaâs history, particularly the liberation struggle that restored national dignity, unity, and sovereignty. He underscored the central role played by the youth in safeguarding the countryâs hard-won achievements and protecting national sovereignty.
He further urged the young athletes to uphold Rwandan values in their sporting careers, including integrity, hard work, discipline, patriotism, and dignified representation of the country.
He emphasised that discipline should guide all their activities and encouraged them to serve as ambassadors of Rwanda whenever they compete at national and international levels.
