RWANDAN PEACEKEEPERS AND THE RWANDAN COMMUNITY IN SOUTH SUDAN CELEBRATE KWIBOHORA 32
Rwandan peacekeepers serving under the United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS), together with members of the Rwandan Community in South Sudan, gathered in Juba to celebrate the 32nd Anniversary of Rwanda's Liberation Day (Kwibohora 32).
The celebration, hosted by RWANBATT-3, brought together personnel from RWANBATT-3, RWANBATT-1, the Rwanda Formed Police Unit (FPU), officials from the Government of South Sudan, and members of the Rwandan Community in South Sudan. The event reflected the strong unity and solidarity among Rwandans serving abroad, the Rwandan Community in South Sudan, and their friends.
Speaking at the event, Col. Charles Rutayisire, Deputy Chief of Staff in Charge of Logistics Support at UNMISS, emphasized that Rwanda's liberation was not only a military achievement but also the foundation of the country's broader national transformation. He noted that the past 32 years have been marked by remarkable progress in national unity and reconciliation, good governance, peacebuilding, healthcare, education, infrastructure development, technology, environmental protection, women's empowerment, and economic growth.
He further encouraged participants to safeguard the peace and security Rwanda has achieved, emphasizing that the spirit of liberation lives on through sustained socio-economic development, patriotism, and every citizen's commitment to nation-building.
On behalf of the Rwandan Community in South Sudan, Mr. William Ngabonziza, Chairman of the Rwandan Community in South Sudan, expressed deep appreciation to the Inkotanyi for their courage, sacrifice, and determination in liberating Rwanda. He called upon all Rwandans living abroad to continue promoting unity, preserving Rwanda's values, and actively contributing to the country's development while serving as ambassadors of Rwanda.
The celebration further strengthened the bond between Rwandan peacekeepers, the Rwandan Community in South Sudan, and officials from the Government of South Sudan, underscoring their shared commitment to unity, peace, and continued partnership in advancing Rwanda's vision and achievements.
