RWANDAN PEACEKEEPERS (RWABATT12) IN CAR HAND OVER YAPELE MATERNITY FACILITY

Today, Rwandan Peacekeepers (RWABATT12), in collaboration with the United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in the Central African Republic (MINUSCA) leadership and local authorities, have officially handed over the YAPELE Maternity Facility located in the 2nd Arrondissement of Bangui City, Central African Republic.
Mme Leontine Y.W BONNA, President of REFELA (Reseau des Femmes Elues Locale de Centrafricaine) who was the Guest of honour expressed her gratitude to MINUSCA and particularly Rwanda peacekeeper for completing the renovation of the YAPELE Maternity premises. She noted that the refurbished Maternity will expedite treatment for local pregnant women and alleviate overcrowding, thus enhancing maternal healthcare in the region.
Joint Task Force Bangui (JTFB) Commander Brig Gen Jean QUEDRAOGO, representing MINUSCA SRSG H.E Valentine RUGWABIZA, conveyed appreciation to the Rwandan Contingent (RWABATT12) for their expertise and professionalism, which ensured the successful and timely completion of the project. He also commended RWABATT12 for their exemplary performance in fulfilling their peacekeeping duties.
Lt Col Joseph GATABAZI, RWABATT12 Commander, acknowledged MINUSCA's support for funding the renovated YAPELE Maternity Facility. He urged the beneficiaries to maintain the premises in good condition through regular maintenance to ensure its continued service for future generations.
The project, executed at cost of $50,000, encompasses nine maternity rooms designed to mitigate overcrowding and enhance maternal health during childbirth.
