THE DEFENCE SPOKESPERSON AND DIRECTOR GENERAL OF INTERNATIONAL MILITARY COOPERATION , ADDRESSES ITORERO INDANGAMIRWA COHORT 16
Today, Brig Gen Patrick Karuretwa, the Defence Spokesperson and Director General of International Military Cooperation delivered a lecture to members of Itorero Indangamirwa Cohort 16 at the Gabiro Military Training Centre in Gatsibo District focusing on strengthening Rwandan values, patriotism, leadership, and civic responsibility.
A 16th cohort of Itorero Indangamirwa is participating in a six-week training programme running from 1 July to 10 August at the Combat Training Centre Gabiro. It brings together young Rwandans living abroad, students enrolled in international schools operating in Rwanda, and outstanding graduates of the national service programme.
During the lecture, Brig Gen Patrick Karuretwa, highlighted Rwanda's remarkable history, emphasizing the country's journey from adversity to resilience and sustainable development as the nation prepares to celebrate the 32nd anniversary of Kwibohora. He also shared an optimistic vision for Rwanda's future and urged the youth to play an active role in it. He said: "The most important question is no longer, 'What kind of country do I want to live in?' Instead, it is, 'What kind of citizen must I become to build the country I want?' "

Through the training, participants are equipped with the knowledge and values needed to foster patriotism, discipline, cultural identity, leadership, and a strong sense of responsibility toward national development.
