"This tournament celebrates the 30th anniversary of our country's Liberation. Spectators witnessed the eagerness to win, as well as selflessness, and competitive spirit of the teams. When we undertake a task, we give it our all."
The RDF Chief of Defence Staff, General MK Mubarakh, stated that this year's Liberation Cup, held for the second time, involves all RDF units and formations to promote sports culture, teamwork, and a winning spirit within the RDF.
“Ideally this was set to conclude on the 3rd July 2024, a day before the Liberation Day celebrations. We chose today to allow RDF personnel to participate in upcoming presidential and parliamentary election programs. The participation and support from all involved have been crucial to the success of this event," General Mubarakh said.
The Game was well-attended by a large crowd of civilian fans and security agencies. It commenced with a minute of silence to honor the victims of the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsis, as we are still in 100 days of remembrance.
