UNMISS SECTOR NORTH COMMANDER WELCOMES NEWLY DEPLOYED RWANDAN CONTINGENT IN MALAKAL

The United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS) Sector North Commander, Brig Gen Syed Wajahat Hussain Naqvi, officially welcomed the newly deployed Rwanda Defence Force (RDF) contingent, Rwanbatt-2, following its arrival in Malakal, Upper Nile State to relieve its predecessors.

The Sector Commander visited Rwanbatt-2 at its Headquarters in Malakal and received a briefing from Contingent Commander, Lt Col Emmanuel Ndahiro, on the contingent’s readiness and plans to carry out its mandate.

Brig Gen Naqvi then addressed the contingent’s officers and Other Ranks. He commended the outgoing Rwanbatt-2 personnel for their professionalism, dedication, and contribution to UN peacekeeping efforts.

He encouraged the incoming contingent to maintain high standards of discipline, preparedness, and training as they carry out their operations and activities to protect civilians, support humanitarian assistance, and contribute to sustainable peace in South Sudan.

The Sector Commander emphasized that the conduct and performance of peacekeepers in the mission area reflect not only on the Rwanda Defence Force but also on the United Nations as a whole. He stressed the importance of teamwork, vigilance, professionalism, and commitment to fulfilling the mission’s mandate.

Brig Gen Naqvi further urged the troops to remain alert to evolving security challenges and assured them of his full support as they work to successfully accomplish their mission.
