Zigama CSS set to start issuing international Visa Cards
Kigali, 30 November 2018

Zigama Credit and Savings Society (Zigama CSS) has embarked on a project that will allow it to issue Visa cards, a service that is likely to reduce queues in the bank’s branches.
The decision was among the resolutions announced by Dr James Ndahiro, the Chairman of the board of Directors, during a general assembly held on Friday at Rwanda Defence Force Headquarters in Kimihurura.
Speaking to media after the assembly, Dr Ndahiro said the decision is part of the ongoing efforts to encourage its clients to embrace cashless economy whereby they can access services and transact digitally.
“Currently, Zigama CSS is involved in building the infrastructure as we also try to finalise our negotiations for the acquisition of rights from VISA International’’
Ndahiro also noted that Zigama CSS will launch the issuing of VISA cards to its customers by early February 2019.The VISA cards will be used both locally and internationally based on the customer needs.
“As a financial cooperative, we are working hard to meet our members’ expectations by expanding our products and services but also disbursing flexible loans to clients,” said Maj Gen Emmanuel Bayingana, the Chief Executive Officer of Zigama CSS.
According to the bank CEO, Zigama projects to make at least Rwf10 billion next financial year.
Zigama CSS board members also recommended extension for the repayment period depending on the loan amount, a project that is likely to be approved next year.
