Marine boats frequently aid other vessels in Lake Kivu and other water bodies to rescue sunken crew members, assist merchant vessels in distress, tow stricken vessels into port, and render technical services to merchant vessels stuck mainly in Lake Kivu.

For example, in last six years Rwanda Marines have participated in eleven missions involving rescue of 49 dead bodies for decent burial while tens of lives have been saved.

Rwanda Marines have also participated in emergency relocation and evacuation of hundreds of islanders threatened by floods and earthquakes.
