The Project that is estimated once completed at 2,258,394,740 Rwf will be executed in a 6 months’ timeframe by the Rwanda Defence Force (RDF) Reserve Force, in collaboration with Gasabo District.
Besides, 15 residential units (each made of 4 individual residences) that can accommodate 60 families in total, the Village will be comprised also of other infrastructures, including 4 new classrooms (in addition to 40 that will be rehabilitated), water and electricity supply installations, rain water harvesting tanks, laterite internal roads on 4.6 Km and cowsheds, among others.
In his remarks while officiating the event, the Minister of State in charge of Social Economic Development, Hon Vincent Munyeshyaka praised the collaboration between local government, the Private Sector and Security Organs that work together in the development of Rwanda. He further called the local residents to demonstrate their interests in this project that in the end will contribute to their development.
The Reserve Force Chief of Staff, Lt Gen Fred Ibingira reiterated that RDF remains fully engaged in the development of Rwanda under the visionary guidance and leadership of HE President Paul Kagame, the President of the Republic and RDF Commander-in-Chief. “We have the legal responsibility of contributing to the development of our country by eradicating poverty and insure that our population has decent shelter, good sanitation and other infrastructures”, Gen Ibingira said, emphasizing that poverty is an enemy that all Rwandans should fight.
On his side, the Mayor of Gasabo District, Mr Steven Rwamurangwa revealed that those who will benefit from the houses in the Model Village will be in priority vulnerable residents, including poor families to be relocated from high risk zones, genocide survivors and other needy people.
