Rwanda Peacekeepers (Rwabatt3) train Bangui local leaders on community work

Bangui, 19 January 2017

Two hundred and twenty local and opinion leaders from eight Arrondissement (districts) of Bangui city and two suburb Communes have officially started a three day seminar on community work at FATEB conference room in Bangui city on 19 January 2017.

The seminar is organized by Rwabatt3 serving under the United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilisation Mission in Central African Republic (MINUSCA), purposely to share with Bangui local and opinion leaders the experience on community work, since they are the ones in good positions to sensitize their fellow citizens on the goodness of community work within their respective local authorities.


In his opening remarks the Rwabatt3 Commanding officer Lt Col C KIRENGA thanked all participants for their willingness to fully participate despite of their routine activities.

He furthermore illustrated the positive impact of community work on social economic development, social cohesion as well as unity and reconciliation of a given nation. “If local leaders in Bangui own the idea of community work, I am sure you will be able to overcome some of your problems without much relying on government support or aids from the donors”, said Lt Col Kirenga.

The Bangui City Mayor Mr. Emile Gros-Raymond NAKOMBO who was also the guest of honour and representative of the CAR Government in this juncture, thanked the Rwanda Peacekeepers for organizing this helpful seminar to the Bangui community focal point. He further appreciated the tireless efforts of Rwanda Peacekeepers to help people of Central Africa rebuild their nation.
“You are here as peacekeepers, but we regard you as our good friends because your good conducts towards our people reflect love and tender you are holding for us, I thank you very much”, said the Mayor of Bangui.

The community work seminar that kicks off on 19 January 2017 will be closed on 21 January 2017 while the organizers and participants will join the residents of 5 Arrondissement in Community work as to put in action what have been shared during the seminar.
