ZIGAMA CSS General Assembly discuss welfare progress

On 30 March 2017, ZIGAMA CSS Cooperative held its annual first Ordinary General Assembly meeting at Rwanda Defence Force (RDF) HQ, Kimihurura.

The meeting was co-chaired by Hon Minister of Defence, Gen James Kabarebe and the CSS Board of Directors Chair, Dr James Ndahiro. On the agenda of the meeting were the Coperative's financial status and welfare issues for members.

In his opening remarks Gen Kabarebe welcomed CSS members to the meeting and noted that the General Assembly was convened in accordance with the Cooperative's regulations.

Briefing the media after the meeting, Dr James Ndahiro revealed that the General Assembly was pleased by the reported progress of their co-operative. During 2016 financial year, Z-CSS realized a net profit of more than 6.8 billion compared to more than 5 billion realised in 2015, which represents  a 31% increment. "This was made possible, among other things, due to the prudent and efficient management, as well the E-banking/cashless mode of transactions the Cooperative and its members have increasingly adopted for the last couple years", Dr Ndahiro observed.
He further hailed the discipline of Members, referring inter alia to the fact that generally all contracted loans have always been paid back in good faith.

The General Assembly also discussed the new education scheme product, whereby CSS members have already started making savings for future education of their children.

ZIGAMA CSS is a financial co-operative with a primary mission of catering for the welfare of its members, mainly from Rwanda Defence Force, Rwanda National Police, National Intelligence and Security Services, as well as Rwanda Correctional Service.
