Gabiro, 14 June 2017

Hon Minister of Defence, Gen James Kabarebe on 14 June 2017 officially opened the Civic Education training (Itorero Indangamirwa Intake 10) for more than 500 Rwandan youth studying abroad. The ceremony was held at RDF Gabiro Combat and Training Center.

In his opening lecture to the trainees, Gen J Kabarebe urged the trainees that Itorero programme is aimed at preserving Rwandan Culture and Values. “You are always defined as Rwandans, love your country because you will always need your homeland despite living in foreign countries for different business”.

Hon Min Kabarebe urged the youth to keep on preserving the vital interests of their country. “As young generation you should always be aware of your task ahead; preserving Rwanda’s current achievements and do even more for the development of your country”, Min Kabarebe said.

Gen Kabarebe further recalled the bravery of Rwanda Patriotic Army that liberated Rwanda from bad politics and stopped the 1994 Genocide against Tutsi. “They were very young like you at their time, some of them abandoned schools and other businesses and dedicated their lives to liberate this country” he said, urging the young generations to take lessons from such courage and never accept that Rwanda could return back in the bad history. He advised Indangamirwa to strongly fight the genocide ideology and any other threats that could undermine the current development and unity among Rwandans.

The current Itorero Indangamirwa will run for one month.
