Participants from 11 Nations of the Peacekeeping Exercise dubbed as “Shared Accord 18” Main Planning Event (MPE) have started today a five day planning event meeting at Rwanda Military Academy-Gako up to 23 March 2018.
Representatives from Botswana, Congo Brazzaville, Gabon, Germany, Malawi, Morocco, Rwanda, Senegal, the Netherlands, US and Zambia are to streamline all aspects of the Exercise "Shared Accord 18" to be held at Rwanda Military Academy-Gako from 15 to 30 August 2018.
“The purpose of the main planning event is to streamline all aspects of the planed Exercise; it means developing concept scenarios, personnel requirements, rhythm of the exercise and all other logistical requirements,” said Major General Innocent Kabandana, Rwanda Defence Force Special Operations Force Commander who officially opened the MPE on behalf of the RDF Chief of Defence Staff.
Maj Gen I Kabandana urged all MPE Participants to work hard for the next five days to ensure a successful planning event. “I urge you to put a lot of efforts, expertise and collaboration to streamline all aspects of the exercise in the set time,” said Gen Kabandana in his opening remarks.
Col Brian Elliot from United States Army Africa (USARAF) thanked the RDF for the warm welcome, hospitality and the facilities availed to the Exercise Shared Accord 18 Participants.
The MPE will be followed by the Final Planning Event in June 2018 at Rwanda Military Academy-Gako.
