Kigali, 23 April 2018 -
A delegation from National Defence College (NDC) of Tanzania comprising of 12 college officials, senior international and national students from the military and other security organs is in Rwanda on a study tour from 22 April to 28 April 2018.
The delegation, led by Ambassador Peter Kallaghe Senior Directing Staff, paid a courtesy call to Rwanda Defence Force (RDF) Chief of Staff, General Patrick Nyamvumba at RDF Headquarters on Monday, 23 April 2018. The delegation also received a presentation by Brig Gen Chris Murari, the RDF Chief J3 in charge of Training and Operations, on RDF roles and functions that included contribution to national development, peacekeeping operations and regional defence cooperation among others.
“We are here as a group of NDC to study economic development of Rwanda, history, strategic concerns and to share experience”, Amb. Peter Kallaghe said before thanking the Government of Rwanda for facilitating them to conduct “immediate and strategic neighborhood study tour” as part of the College curriculum to supplement part of the theory learnt at the NDC.
The delegation from Tanzanian National Defence College Course 06 intake that include Students Officers from Botswana, Nigeria, Tanzania and Zimbabwe started their official tour by visiting Kigali Genocide Memorial Centre where they paid respect to the victims of the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi. During their seven days visit, the delegation will visit the Museum of the Campaign against Genocide, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and East African Community, Rwanda Peace Academy, ZIGAMA CSS, Military Medical Insurance and key government and public institutions.
