Seventeen faculty Staff and participant-officers from the Zimbabwe National University (ZNDU) are on a week-long study tour in Rwanda as part of the university curriculum. The ZNDU is the training institution of the Zimbabwe Defence Forces (ZDF) that provides higher education and training in national policy and strategy formulation for military and civilian leaders.
The ZNDU delegation today visited Rwanda Defence Force (RDF) Headquarters and was warmly welcomed by the RDF Chief of Defence Staff, Gen Patrick Nyamvumba. They were later briefed by the RDF Chief plans, Col S Kakira, on the RDF roles, functions and organisation.
After the briefing, the head of the ZNDU delegation, Brig Gen Jefter Munongwa told the RDF press that “We are happy to be here and thankful to Rwandans and to the RDF for their warm welcome. We came here with these participants to be briefed on the RDF, its organization, roles, peace and security efforts in Rwanda and the region and we now know much about your defence force and the great job they do here in Rwanda and in Africa”.
The ZNDU delegation started their tour on 24 June 2018 with a visit at Kigali Genocide Memorial where they paid homage to victims of 1994 Genocide against Tutsi. While in Rwanda they will tour different RDF institutions such as the RDF Command and Staff College, Rwanda Military Academy, ZIGAMA Credit and Saving Scheme, Military Medical Insurance among others.
