The Army Chief of Staff, Lt Gen Jacques Musemakweli received this morning a delegation of 34 senior officers from Botswana Defence Force Command and Staff College (BDCSC) led by Col Mompoloki Marks Nkgapha. The meeting was held at RDF Headquarters in Kimihurura-Gasabo District.
Gen Musemakweli urged officers to use this opportunity and learn more from Rwanda as part of their research. He revealed to them that Rwanda has a lot to offer, not only on its pragmatic approaches to her security and socio-economic problems but also on her values as a people.
According to the head of Botswana Defence Force’s delegation, the purpose of the visit is to expose their students as well as College Staff on what Rwanda is doing, to learn and share experience that can take both Botswana and Rwanda forward.
“We are very much impressed on what Rwanda is doing in terms of development, and relations with other countries, and I have no doubt that our visit will strengthen the bilateral ties between the two countries,” Col Nkgapha said.
The delegation also had a presentation on the roles, structure, engagements and challenges that RDF faces. Thereafter, they visited Rwanda Parliament, where they had a brief meeting and thereafter a tour of the Campaign Against Genocide Museum.
Apart from visiting RDF Headquarters, the Botswana Defence Force Command and Staff students visited Kigali Genocide Memorial Site yesterday.
During their one week stay, they will visit, Rwanda Military Academy-Gako, RDF Command and Staff College, Rwanda-DRC border in Western Province, ZIGAMA Credit and Saving Society, Rwanda Governance Board, Rwanda Development Board, MINAFET and MINICOM.
